   leaf-spring seismometer is mechanically adjusted. You 
   may need to do this after repairs, e.g. when broken 
   hinges were replaced. One page.

BroadbandDesign.doc (93 kB): Design Considerations for 
   Broadband Seismometers. Manuscript of a workshop 
   presentation (IRIS, Lake Tahoe, 2004). Five pages.

Estimating_poles.doc (23 kB): How poles of the transfer 
   function can be estimated from a plot of the amplitude 
   response. These estimates can serve as start values 
   for an inversion algorithm like PZFIT. One page.

   presentation by Forbriger et al. on natural
   magnetic disturbances in broadband seismic records.

   Handbook of Earthquake and Engineering Seismology. Covers
   principles of seismic instrumentation. Is more concise 
   than chapter 5 of the NMSOP but also discusses some 
   additional topics. 49 pages.

LeafSpringSeismometer_Summary.doc (22 kB): Summary of the 
   publication (1982) on the STS1 leaf-spring seismometer, 
   with a link to the scan of the complete publication.

LeafSpringSeismometer.pdf (1.2 MB): a scan of the publication
   by Wielandt and Streckeisen on the STS1 leaf-spring 
   seismometer, 1982.

Log-Creep.doc (370kB): a manuscript discussing mathematical
   and experimental aspects of creep and damping in seismo-
   meter springs. Twelve pages.

Seismometer_Nonlinearity.pdf (6.7 MB): a paper by E.W. and
   Mark Zumberge on nonlinear distortion in four types of 
   broadband seismometers (STS1, STS2, CMG3T, Trillium 240) 
   measured on a shake table. Published in BSSA 103, 2013.
